These are steamed or fried Muthia is a great Gujarati recipe Which along with Khakhra, safed dhokla, Khandavi, khaman dhokla. Divide the dough into muthia/kababs, the size of a lemon. Place the muthia/kababs on a greased plate, leaving enough space between each. Methi muthia recipe, dhoodi muthia recipe are few popular muthia recipes from Gujarati cuisine.
Instructions to make Methi Muthia:
- Make powder of oats.Mix besan,oats and rice flour together.
- Mix all spices, curd and baking soda in the flour.
- Make a firm dough.
- With the oil in hands divide the dough in equal portions.Make cylindrical rolls.
- Steam them in a greased and covered seive for 30 mins on medium flame.
- Cool them.Cut slices.
- Take oil in a wok.Heat it up.Add mustard seeds,curry leaves, dry red chilli and sesame seeds.Let them splutter.
- Add in and Shallow fry all the muthias on slow heat for five mins.
- Sprinkle chaat masaala over muthias and serve with chutney or sauce.
- Steamed muthias can be kept in the fridge for 10 - 12 days.Whenever you want to eat just take out and temper them with spices in oil.
