Instructions to make Sooji Upma:
- Turn on the flame and heat a pan. Add 2 cup semolina/sooji.
- Fry the semolina continuously on medium flame till it turn to brown colour. Take it out in a plate.
- Now heat a kadai. Pour 2-3 tsp oil
- Once oil is heated up, put mustard seeds and peanuts(Optional) and fry on medium flame for at least 1-1.5 minutes
- Then add chopped green chilli and chopped onion. Saute on medium flame
- Now add chopped vegetables and saute for a while. Cover and cook for few minutes. Saute in between.
- And take out the cover and add 1/2tsp turmeric powder, 1/2tsp red chilli powder and mix it well.
- Now pour 1/2 glass of water and then cook it on medium flame.
- After 3-4 minutes, check vegetables are cooked properly. If not continue the process by covering it and cook for 1 more minute. Then you will notice vegetables cooked properly.
- Now add more 1/2 glass of water. Add salt. Let it boil on high flame.
- Reduce flame to low after sometime when everything is cooked.
- Now add roasted semolina and mix everything well. Cover and cook the sooji on medium flame for few minutes. Saute in between. Cover it again to cook.
- After 3 minutes upma is ready to serve. Turn off the gas and get it out in a serving bowl. You can serve it with namkeen also.
