The ingredients needed to make Bedmi (Bedami) poori:
- Take urad dal dhuli 1/2 cup(soaked in water for 3 hours)
- Take 1 cup All purpose flour
- Get 1 teaspoon sugar
- Get salt 2 tablespoons or to taste
- Get 1/2 teaspoon asfetoida
- Take 1 tablespoon jeera powder
- Take 1 tablespoon dhaniya powder
- Make ready 1 tablespoon saunf powder
- Prepare 1/2 teaspoon garam masala
- Make ready oil for frying
- Prepare water for making dough
- Prepare 2 green chilli
- Make ready 1 teaspoon ginger paste
These bedmi poori have slightly crisp texture that is opposite to regular poori. Addition of sooji helps get crispy texture. Also they are slightly thicker compared to the regular ones. This traditional breakfast Bedmi poori is also known bedmi aloo, bedmi kachori, urad dal kachori, bedvi, bedami or bedmi puri aloo sabzi.
Steps to make Bedmi (Bedami) poori:
- First drain the water from dal and put it into a blender and add green chillies, ginger paste and asfetoida and make a coarse paste.
- Now take flour and add some salt, sugar, jeera, dhaniya, saunf powder and garam masala. Mix well.
- Now add ghee and crumble the flour. Add dal paste and make a tight dough for poori. Use water if needed. Set aside for 20 mintues.
- After 20 mintues knead the dough once again to make smooth dough.
- Heat oil for frying pooris and make balls from the dough for pooris. And take one ball and make poori with the help of roller pin. Repeat the process for all pooris.
- Put the pooris one by one into hot oil. When one side cook turn on another side. Fry till golden brown.
- Your bedami poori is ready. Serve it with dubki wale Allo or any raita of your choice.
