Dal is prepared using tuvaar dal, chana dal (prepared by removing skin of split chickpeas), mung dal, moth dal, or urad dal. Baati is a hard bread made up of wheat flour commonly known as aata.

Steps to make Dal-baati-churma:
  1. Knead a soft dough using these ingredients with water. Keep aside for some while
  2. 2 boiled, peeled and mashed potatoes - Oil,hing - Jeera,mustard seeds, curry leaves - Salt as per taste, turmeric powder and red chilli powder - Chopped coriander - heat oil in a pan, crackle mustard, hing,curry leaves and jeera. Add turmeric powder, salt and red chilli powder. Add potatoes and mix well. Add chopped coriander.
  3. Roll balls, flatten in palm, fill potato stuffing and grill it in oven, Tandoor or appam Pan.
  4. Made some plain baatis, grilled them in appam Pan. When they cooled, grinded them in a grinder. Heat ghee in a pan, roast grinded baati in it till aroma. Add cardamom powder, 2-3 tbsp powdered sugar and chopped nuts 😊
  5. It's pressure cooked tur dal, tempered with green chilies and garlic paste… Spiced with garam masala 😊
