- Get For moong dal:-
- Take 3/4 cup yellow moong dal
- Take 1 and 1/2 cup water
- Get 2-3 tablespoon oil
- Take 1 teaspoon mustard seeds
- Make ready 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- Get 1/4 teaspoon asafoetida
- Take to taste Salt
- Make ready 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
- Prepare 1 tablespoon red chili powder
- Prepare For kadhi:-
- Get 1 cup curd
- Get 3-4 tablespoon besan
- Make ready to taste Salt
- Prepare 3-4 chopped green chillies
- Take 2 tablespoon sugar or as per taste
- Get 1/2 teaspoon ginger paste
- Prepare 2-3 teaspoon ghee
- Get 1 teaspoon mustard seeds
- Get 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- Make ready 1/4 teaspoon asafoetida
- Make ready 2-3 cloves
- Get 1 small cinnamon piece
- Prepare 6-7 curry leaves
- Prepare Chopped fresh coriander leaves for garnish

Gujarati Kadhi is a yogurt-based side dish, to which chickpea flour/besan is added as a thickening agent. It is tempered and then simmered with spices.
Steps to make Sukhi Moong dal and kadhi (Gujarati):
- For moong dal :- wash and soak moong dal in water for 1 hour.
- In a pan heat oil. Add mustard seeds and cumin seeds. When crackles add asafoetida. Add water. (You can use water in which moong dal is soaked). Add salt, turmeric powder and red chili powder. Mix well and allow it to boil.
- When water comes to boil add soaked moong dal (without water). Mix it. Allow it to cook on low flame. Cook till watery part absorbs and dal is well cooked. Sukhi moong dal is ready to serve.
- For kadhi :- In a vessel take curd and besan.. Add approximate 2-3 cups water. Blend with blender and prepare lump free mixture.
- Bring it to boil. Keep flame low. Add salt, sugar and green chillies. Mix well. Keep stirring in between. Meanwhile prepare tadka.
- In a tadka pan heat ghee. Add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, cloves and cinnamon piece. When mustard seeds crackles add asafoetida and curry leaves. Pour this tadka into boiling kadhi. Mix it. Add ginger paste. Mix it.
- Boil kadhi for 8-10 minutes. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves. Serve kadhi and sukhi moong dal with steamed rice.
