  1. Make ready 1 kg raw boneless chicken
  2. Get 2 onions,thick sliced

This authentic Indian butter chicken (murg makhani) recipe is the real deal with a traditional blend of common Indian spices, yogurt, and butter. Chicken Makhani: All in all it curried chicken and with some added fat, such as in most cases it is sour cream. The idea was to give a mouth feel and tame down heat as per the western taste. This rich, buttery, creamy chicken needs no introduction.

Steps to make Makhani chicken:
  1. Clean & rinse the raw chicken with fresh water 2 -3 times.
  2. Marinate with curd, salt,ginger garlic paste & red chilli powder for half an hour.
  3. Meanwhile in a big karahi,add butter with thick slices of onions. Saute for few seconds then add garlic cloves & cashews.
  4. Cook for few seconds on low flame then add roughly chopped tomatoes, red chilli powder &salt.Saute again.
  5. Cook for few seconds then add water & cover the karahi with lid.cook on low flame for 15 minutes.
  6. After 15 minutes,switch off the gas & open the lid.let them cool down.
  7. Put them in a blender & blend till it become thick paste.
  8. In the same karahi,pour the blender paste.Cook on low flame till oil spreads from corners.Now add fresh cream & stir bhi well.Add coriander powder & kasuri methi.Now the gravy is ready.
  9. Pour oil in pan or karahi.Deep fry the marinated chicken till they become golden brown. Take them out on the tissue paper to absorb excess oil.
  10. Now add the fried chicken to the gravy with water & cook on low flame till chicken becomes soft.
  11. Garnish with garam masala & coriander leaves.Serve hot with chapati or naan.
