  1. Prepare 1 cup Raw rice
  2. Prepare 1 cup Boiled rice
  3. Prepare 1/4 cup Urdh dhal
  4. Prepare 1/4 cup Coconut small pieces
  5. Get 10 Peppers
  6. Take 5 Green chillies, chopped
  7. Prepare 1 tbsp Coriander leaves
  8. Get 2 tbsp Carrot (scraped 2tbs)
  9. Prepare 2 tbsp Gram dal (soaked)
  10. Get to taste Salt
  11. Make ready 2 tbsp Coconut oil
  12. Take 10 Cashew nuts (cut into pieces) (optional)

Steps to make Masala idli:
  1. Soak the rice, urdh dal for 4 hours.
  2. Grind as the texture of idli batter.
  3. Mix with salt, coconut pieces, soaked dhal, coriander leaves, chilli, carrot, pepper. Mix well and keep overnight.
  4. Keep a pan, add 2tbsp coconut oil, splutter some mustard seed, curry leaves, add with batter, grease the cake pan, pour the batter and steam.
  5. The masala idli is ready to serve with plain coconut chutney.
