Take a lemon size ball of the mix, flatten it with your hands, making them to about half inch thick patties. Masala Vada, a crispy and savory deep fried fritter made from chana dal and spices, is a popular street food of South Indian cuisine.

- Rinse all lentils well. Soak the lentils in enough water for 6 to 7 hours.
- In grinder add all lentils,green chillies, coriander leaves, curry leaves, turmeric powder,red chilli powder, cumin seed powder, coriander seed powder, ginger, asafoetida and salt.
- Grind it coarsely. Don’t add water while grinding. You can also add chopped onion in the mixture.
- Remove the mixture in a bowl. Heat the oil in a frying pan to fry the vada.
- Take a small ball size mixture and make the vada. Deep fry the vada on medium low flame till it becomes golden brown on both side.
- Masala vada is ready to eat. Serve it with green chutney or sauce.
