Masala Khichdi is a spicy variation of simple khichdi. This is healthy but ultimate comfort food. Khichdi is basically prepared with rice and lentils. At my home khichdi was made just with rice and moong dal.

- Firstly take curd and semolina in a bowl mix it well. Now add salt, black pepper and lemon juice in the mixture and slowly add water and mix it well. Now heat the oil and add mustard seeds to give tadka to the idli batter. Now keep the batter for 10-15 minutes.
- For stuffing____firstly heat oil in a pan and give the tadka of asafoetida and cumin seeds to the oil.after adding half cooked moong dal in the oil mix it well.now add green chilli and coriander in it. Then add salt,red chilli powder and chaat masala to it and mix it well.now cook it for 5 minutes and let it cool down.
- Now add two cup of water in the idli maker.add soda in the idli batter and mix it well.if the batter is looking to be thickened add water in it and mix it well.now grease the idli stand with oil put some idli batter in it now spread moong dal masala on the batter and cover the masala with the idli batter.
- Now steam the idli in the idli maker for 10-15 minutes and check the idli with a toothpick.if the toothpick comes out clean off the gas. When the idli gets cool take it out from the idli stand.
- Now heat the oil and add mustard seeds in the oil. Now add this tadka on the idli and garnish the idli with red chilli powder and coriander.serve the idli with your favourite chutney.
